PicturePorky's Hot Rockin'
Month number four of 2018 readers, and still us in the UK keep getting winter revisiting.  This one seems to have gone on forever doesn't it?  Nowhere was colder than the recent Shake Rattle and Roll Weekender at Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth.

This was the 16th SR&R weekender and once again, we were front and centre to bring you the best of the action.  Including the top show by Porky's Hot Rockin' (pictured left) You can read all about it here https://www.thebettajivereview.com/weekender-reviews.html

Not much on the club scene this month, although we must take time out to once again congratulate Carrie Hope and Salvatore Marziano on their wedding on Easter Sunday.  Cracking evening at the reception with JG and the Ultimates and lots of DJ stuff.  Oh, by the way, I don't review weddings, but have to share this pic of the happy couple.

A quick mention for a review that you'll most likely read in next month's blog.  Last night we visited the Fireball Club in Lowestoft, Suffolk.  This is the most easterly club in the UK, and this gig featured the rescheduling of the Hal Wrayzor Combo, four scallywags from over the border in Norwich.

Two solid sets of rockin' from the lads, in front of a decent crowd for the club, but with the caveat that this sized audience needs to increase if clubs like this one are to survive.  You can record Saturday Night Takeaway or whatever in the world other such nonsense is on a weekend TV schedule.  Once clubs like these close their doors, you've lost them.

Like what you see?  Help us keep the Bettajive Review free by popping across a donation please.  Many thanks

Rhythm Riot at the end of the year
Some events to alert you all to.  Hot Rock n Boogie Weekender is a new one for May, and is situated in Spalding, Lincolnshire.  The Rockabilly Rave has a very diverse array of acts, from Doug Kershaw, through to Hot Boogie Chillun.  The chalets are selling quickly, so don't delay in booking.

If you haven't already, make a note of the new date for the Atomic Festival which takes on the Hot Rod Hayride as well.  The heats for the Atomic UK Jive contest, are in full swing and those we've seen, have some talented dancers already through to the event itself.  All you need to be is over 18, and be available for both dates of the Atomic, to enter.

Rock Ridge Rumble in the North East is well established now, and still remains excellent value at £60 pp.  And then, although a long while off, the Rhythm Riot, near the end of the year, circle that date folks

A new event for the West Country in 2019
DJ Nigel Babb, aka Domino, had a bit of an issue with Mother Nature for his first gig, so hopefully that won't be a problem in May with the Rock n Roll sound of Phil Haley and the Comments.  An event shout out for our mate Freddy Velas and the Doo Wop event in Italy also in May.

Viva Chez Vegas celebrates it's tenth anniversary, with another ace looking line up.  Gene Gambler and the Shufflers aren't taking bookings for the foreseeable future and this might be one of the last times you get to see a this quality Rockabilly outfit.

Two new events for next year.  Kevin Greener, already well established as the organiser of Rock Ridge Round Up and Rock Ridge Rumble, switches areas from the N.E. to the N.W. of the UK for a brand new weekender, with a varied line up.  If swing's your thing, you like a bit of jump with your jive, have a look at Humdinger's event for 2019.  Join up with their newsletter for details

All event flyers on the site have live links, just click on them for details

If you want your event here, a review of it as it happens, or your recordings reviewed, give us a shout.  Check out the flyer below for a full wrecky on what we can do for you.  Incidentally, a lot of the artwork on the flyers you see in the Bettajive Review, and indeed our promotional flyer, are by Andy Brittan of AB Creative, check him out here  https://www.facebook.com/andybrittancreative/

Cheers til next time
