So what has been happening in Bettajive land? Firstly, Cherry Casino and the Gamblers played the Saturday Night Fish Fry event put on in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, by Rachael Wragg and Mike Finch, who also double DJ'd at the event. A top night out on the east coast readers. Some jumping R&B from the lads from Berlin, a sell out crowd and a full dancefloor throughout. A cracking night, and now they are planning an all dayer to take place on the pier. If you have a scroll down and look at the flyers, you'll find the info on it. Gonna be a good one
Pictured above, is Steve Russell of the Slingshots, who played the Pyramid Rockabilly Club in Stevenage, to considerable adulation it has to be said. Hugely enjoyable brace of sets from the Sheffield lads, club owners, this is the stuff you need at your clubs!
One such act, making a return to the UK, was Terry Lee. Those around Essex around a dozen years ago or so, will recall this young lad, thundering away on the ivories, backed by his mates, I'm guess, from school at the time.
Last time I saw him was at Hemsby, before he departed for the USA, forming Terry Lee and the Rockaboogie band. Now a father and husband, he's matured into a true showman, and turned in a fine set. But, why read about it here? Check out the weekender section of our website and read all about the whole weekender there
In May, for our friend Freddy Velas, the Doo Wop festival in Italy, with a first class line up of vocal and musical talent.
June, it's the Rave, and my favourite weekender of the year. Word has it that spaces are filling up fast for this extravaganza, so don't delay. You can visit the relevant sites by clicking on the flyers
There's a stack of records here, and a stack of records there. Basically we have been showered with the finest releases recently, and in the next few days we will be uploading reviews in the CD reviews section of this site. Check out the first upload this very evening, The Sabres self titled cracker.
